About Sickle Cell Disorder

Sickle Cell Disorder is an inherited blood condition that affects the shape and function of red blood cells. Instead of being round and flexible, the red blood cells become hard, sticky, and shaped like a crescent or โ€œsickle.โ€ These abnormal cells can block blood flow, leading to pain, infections, anaemia, and damage to organs. Sickle cell is a lifelong condition, but with early diagnosis, proper medical care, healthy lifestyle choices, and emotional support, individuals living with the disorder can live full and productive lives.
